Join Trails for Trunks: The Ultimate Charity Event for Elephant Conservation!

Make a Difference this World Elephant Day

Trails for Trunks is back! Support our charity fundraising event for World Elephant Day with South Africa’s first dedicated elephant orphanage, the Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD) Trust.

Join us to celebrate World Elephant Day weekend and raise awareness for elephants by joining our virtual or physical event (taking place at The Big Red Barn in Pretoria this year). This is also a great chance to get active and connect with our global community of elephant lovers.

Join the Virtual Event

Join us for a fun and energetic celebration of elephants for World Elephant Day weekend from 9-12 August 2024, and choose to walk, run, cycle, skate, surf, gym, ski, or do any form of exercise to raise awareness for elephants in our Trails for Trunks Virtual Event!

HOW TO TAKE PART: Join us from anywhere in the world at any time between 9-12 August 2024. Print a HERD Trails for Trunks 2024 stamp and snap a photo or video of yourself doing your activity with the stamp clearly shown. Share your image or clip on social media, tagging HERD and using the hashtags #trailsfortrunks #worldelephantday2024 Alternatively, you can email it to: marketing@herd.org.za.

All entrants who share their pics with us between 9-12 August 2024 will stand a chance to win a HERD World Elephant Day Hamper full of elephant goodies!

Enter the Physical Event

When: 17 August 2024

Where: The Big Red Barn, Irene

Time: Registration open at 7am, starting time is 8am

Price: R200 per person

Cycle Distance: 12km, 22km
Run Distance: 5km, 10km, 15km 20km

Whether you’re up for a casual walk, a run or a bike ride, there’s something for everyone. And guess what? The first 100 people to sign up get an awesome goodie bag packed with treats – so get your tickets early!

We’ve got some cool prizes up for grabs on the day, including 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category and for the best dressed! Categories for Best Dressed include Solitary Bull, Elegant Ellie, Most Trunk-tactic Team and Little Tusker. There will be a small market and raffle, so don’t forget to bring some cash. Plus, because it’s a family-friendly day, everyone’s welcome – including your four-legged friends! So grab your team, get your tickets and join us for a fun day out.
